Ear Wax Removal Using Microsuction
Our Welling Ear Wax Removal Clinic is based in Falconwood Pharmacy
We are a walk-in* clinic open 6 days a week
Compared to the traditional forms of wax removal, such as ear drops, irrigation or “syringing”) microsuction is:
- Quicker – Instant Results
- Cleaner & Neater
- Generally better tolerated with less side effects
- More effective and likely to need one appointment only
- Doesn’t need weeks of waiting for drops to soften the wax
- No Appointment Needed
What is Microsuction?
Microsuction is a wax removal technique using a binocular operating microscope – which allows depth perception and magnification to look straight into the ear canal and a very fine sterile suction device at low pressure to remove the wax.
Occasionally we may need to use other instruments to remove hard wax. The technique means that we can always see what we are doing and can avoid touching the skin of the sides of the ear canal which makes the process a lot more comfortable.

What to expect from ear microsuction
We will talk you through the procedure, show you the equipment and require you to sign a consent form before we start. The micro-suction process can be noisy and occasionally make you feel dizzy. This usually passes within a few seconds.
The procedure can last up to 30 minutes for both ears. Once completed you will given a form to confirm what has been carried out and occasionally any complications resulting. We advise you hand this letter to your GP surgery to be added to your health records.
If time allows, prior to the procedure…
Please put 2 drops of olive oil into the relevant ear/s twice a day for 3 days prior to your appointment. Please Note: this is not required but can make procedure simplar
